Well, I'm home. It's pretty much been the usual so far: poker, bowling, park baseball, board games. Waking up at 2 p.m. I need to get a job that will give me something to do during the day.

Saw X-Men 3 tonight at midnight with Rosen, Murray, Gandino, DeBaun, and my brother. The place was packed. We got there 40 minutes early and still ended up sitting in the 5th row. I went into this movie with very low expectations, knowing the problems that plagued production(director leaving to film Superman, rushed effects, awful script). Yet, I still had an amazing cinematic experience...during the trailers. After trailers for Pirates of the Carribbean 2 and some bad horror film, came this:

“This summer, you will see many blockbuster hits.
There will be unbreakable codes,
animated adventures,
impossible missions,
swashbuckling pirates
incredible superheroes,
and countless thrills.
But there’s only one place you’ll see
(hissssssssssss)
SNAKES ON A PLANE.”

The theater erupted into applause and shouting. I seriously can't wait for that movie. August 18th can't come quickly enough.

As for X-Men 3, it was ok, I guess. They didn't change what I didn't like about the script, and Halle Berry was awful. There were some good things, including "Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut bitch". Unfortunately it was not followed by "I'm gonna hit you with your own pimp." The end of the movie sucked, as did what was shown after the credits.

Working at Jones Beach tomorrow, which at least gives me something to do. I should be going to DC soon to visit people when they come back from abroad. That's all for now.

"I played 25 minutes and 35 minutes in two games," Devils goalie Martin Brodeur said. "I shouldn't be tired. I'm tired of getting scored on, that's it."

Islanders 6, Devils 1!

They are actually playing well, one of the few good things that has happened this vacation.

I actually had a really good weekend.

-Friday morning I woke up and got on a bus to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to see the opening round of our basketball team's conference tournament. Even though we were forced to watch some bad movies/television shows on the way up, it was still a pretty quick ride. I was covering the game for my school paper, so I was allowed into the press 'green room', where I got free soda and stuff.

As for the game, it was pretty good. We played Lafayette, who we'd beaten twice already, so we were supposed to win. AU jumped out to an early lead, and it was never really all that close. Before the game, I met one of the players' mothers, which was pretty funny to hear stories about the team.

After our game ended, Bucknell played Army in the other quarterfinal game. During the game, I really regreted not going to a real sports school. Even though Bucknell is no great team, they're amazing for our conference and the fans were really into the game. The Army pep band was there too, along with about 25-30 really loud cadets in dress uniform. Just a great atmosphere.

The bus ride back was better. We watched Wedding Crashers, which really never gets old. Didn't get back until almost midnight, but it was definately worth it.

-I didn't do too much on Saturday. I was supposed to go out at night, but I made the decision to stay in and it was the right decision.

-Sunday I woke up at 7:30 to get back on a bus to Bucknell. This time we watched Blue Chips on the way there, a quality basketball movie. We also watched SPACE JAM!

The game wasn't so great. The atmosphere wasn't the same(probably because the crowd was drunk Friday night and hungover Sunday afternoon). Our team was down 11-2 before I knew it, and even though we tied it at 11 in the 1st half, a run at the end of the half took away AU's chance of winning.

Everyone's favorite Lithuanian Linas Lekavicius scored 21 points, but nobody else on our team could do anything on offense and defense. Bucknell was just way way better than us.

-Well, that was pretty much my weekend, 14+ hours on a bus to and from Pennsylvania to see two less than competitive basketball games. But, this is what I want to do in life, so it was a good experience.

-My new X-box 360 comes with a remote that turns it on and off. It even opens and closes the disc tray! I also have wireless controllers! I will never have to get out of bed ever again(well, except to eat...but I never do that anyway)!

-Break has been pretty boring. Back to school in 2 weeks, it won't get much better there. Yay for most of my friends being in other countries.

Christmas was good.

I got an X-box 360. Now I can kill Nazis who look more realistic than ever.

That is all.

I wrote this paper this morning. I am constantly amazed with the crap that I can submit for classes here, and still get A's. It's how I ended up at American, a story that most people enjoy.

This spring, high school seniors across the county will make one of the most important decisions of their lives: where to go to college. Three years ago, I was in the same position, a few months away from graduation with no idea where I was going to end up. However, unlike all of my friends, I came up with a simple solution to the problem of picking a college; I flipped a coin.
Throughout high school, I had a different way of doing things. During the SAT, I finished each section with enough time to take a nap before the next one started. A few days after the exam, Mrs. Mogul, my guidance counselor, came up to me and informed me that one of the proctors came to her and told her of a student who was sleeping during the exam, and she assumed that it was me. Naturally, I got one of the highest scores in my class.
When fall of my senior year rolled around, each student had to have a meeting their guidance counselor and a parent to start the process of picking a college. Unfortunately, the only time that I could get an appointment that my mother could keep was during my gym class. I showed up in gym clothes, and was visibly in a rush. I grabbed the list of potential target schools, asked if that was it, and bolted out the door before either my mother or Mrs. Mogul could answer. I rushed back and focused on what was important to me at the time: winning the gym hockey championship.
I applied to six schools based on Mrs. Mogul’s recommendations, without having visited any of them: NYU, American, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Hofstra, and Adelphi. Even before visiting, I knew that I would not be attending NYU, Hofstra, and Adelphi; I wanted to go to school away from home, but my parents thought I should leave my options open.
I visited the Baltimore/D.C. area over Christmas vacation with my family. Even though my mother loved Johns Hopkins (I assume because of her not so secret dream of one of her sons becoming a doctor), I couldn’t see myself as a student there. I liked both George Washington and AU, and after the trip I slightly favored GW because of its location in the heart of the city. I also visited Adelphi, and had a wonderful meeting with the head of the University Honors Department. He pretty much guaranteed me a full scholarship to the school, and my mother seemed ecstatic, even though I knew I wasn’t going to accept it.
When I got back to school in January, I was more concerned with finding a prom date than I was with picking a school. Some of my classmates had already committed to a school, applying early decision to schools across the country. Others were anxiously awaiting their acceptance letters to see if they got into their school of choice. I personally was waiting for the most important factor in my decision; the financial aid packages. I knew that if I could to college for free, I’d be saving myself a lot of problems in the future.
In March, the acceptance letters started coming in the mail. I got into five of the six schools I applied to. Johns Hopkins rejected me, but it didn’t matter because I wasn’t going there if they offered to pay me to be a student. As promised, Adelphi University offered me a full scholarship, as did Hofstra. American also offered me a full scholarship, but GW did not.
Although I received a $25,000 scholarship and an ample amount of financial aid from GW, I still would have had to pay over $5,000 a year to go to my first choice school. While I realize that this is much less than most college students pay, my family wasn’t going to be able to financially support me, and $20,000 is a lot to owe after four years.
However, GW was my number one choice, and it wasn’t going to cost that much to go there. Both of my brothers wanted me to go to GW, and my oldest brother Chris, who works as a sales executive in Manhattan, offered to help me out financially if I chose GW.
I was not really sure what to do, and I intended to put off making a decision for as long as possible, which meant the May 1 application deadline. For most of March and April, my parents constantly questioned me, mostly to make sure that I was actually thinking about what college I should pick.
Finally, spring break came and I was preparing for a school trip that I would not return from until after the deadline. I was going to Orlando, Florida with my school’s DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) chapter, a business club that I joined to improve my public speaking skills. The night before I left, my mother attempted to pressure me into making a decision, I told her that I would call her from Florida with my decision.
During my first two days in Florida, I spent little time thinking about my college choice. Instead I went to Universal Studios with some of my best friends during the day and spent the nights in the hotel pool. Then it was suddenly the night before the deadline, and my mother kept calling my cell phone. I decided that there was only one way for me to decide, and I asked my friend Steve for a quarter.
When he threw me the quarter, I looked at it and had an epiphany: the sides of the quarter feature George Washington and an Eagle (the mascot of American). I decided to put my faith in the coin, and flip it (It was best two-out-of three of course, a decision that important can’t be made by one coin flip). The first toss landed heads up, GW was in the lead 1-0. Of course, the second toss was tails, tying the score at 1.
I tossed the coin up in the air for the final time. It seemed to hang in the hair motionless for an eternity before falling to the floor. I looked down and saw the image of a bald eagle; I was going to American University.
I informed the crowded room of my decision; most of them could not believe that I had allowed a game of chance to determine my fate. I then took out my cell phone and called my mother. Her voice sounded disappointed in my decision, but relieved that I had finally made one.
When I got back from the trip, most of my classmates did not believe my story, even though I had at least 10 to 12 witnesses in that room, including Steve who sat and watched in confusion as I flipped a coin three times.
I finished out my senior year in high school. I ended up finding a wonderful prom date, and am still friends with her today. My gym hockey team won the coveted Natoli Cup (a miniature replica of the NHL’s Stanley Cup, with pictures of my gym teacher Mr. Natoli taped on it; it currently stands proudly on my desk here at school).
Even when I got to college, people had a hard time believing my story. Those that do believe have wondered if the coin pointed me in the right direction. Three years later, I believe that the coin was right.
I have only regretted not going to GW once. It was last spring, when the GW men’s basketball team made the NCAA tournament, and almost pulled off a first-round upset. However, I ended up being at the school with the better journalism program, the major that I finally decided upon in my junior year. I have a strong group of friends, and when I graduate in four years, I will owe the university less than $10,000 in loan payments that I had to take out to pay for housing (even at AU, full scholarship doesn’t mean a free ride).
Leaving such an important decision up to the flip of a coin may not be the right way for most people to pick their college. However, for me it worked out, and if you are a high school senior who can not choose between to schools, maybe it will work for you too.

1:49 am - 2 Legit 2 Quit
A lot has happened since my last update, i'll do my best to remember it all

-Last Friday I left at around 4 a.m. to go the Hershey, Pennsylvania with my parents for a family vacation. Although I wasn't really looking forward to it, I actually had a pretty good time. We got there right when the park opened, and I got on all the rides I wanted to a couple of times each. I also went on the bumper cars about 20 times, and was pretty ruthless. I teamed up with this group of delinquent teenage townies to absolutely destroy these little kids and old people. It was fantastic, but it wasn't as great as on the senior trip when we all spent the entire time ramming jared mauskopf. I also went on the chocolate world ride a bunch of times because it is air conditioned. The trip also marked the first time that I used my new digital camera. Once I get to school, I will post the pictures.

-Worked a couple of times during the week, nothing too good. However, this is probably a good time to chronicle my war with the kid at the fried dough cart at work. There is nothing that I love more than some good fried dough. The other night, I went up there on my break to pay for some fried dough, and the kid at the cart said that he didn't want to make it. The next night, I go up again, and his cart is clearly open, and the kid told me to go away. I was never more offended in my life, and Rosen wanted to light the cart on fire. So last night I went to him, and guess what I got fried dough. I also paid with a coupon, so I didn't really spend anything. I then proceeded to eat the entire thing, and then lick the plate clean of powdered sugar. Apparently I looked like a crack addict afterward.

-Friday night's concert was 50 Cent, Ludacris, and Lil Jon. About 40 minutes into the show, I'm walking along the orchestra floor, and suddenly some guy pushes me from behind. I turn around, and this fat guy dumps a box of popcorn on me, and starts cursing at me. He was pretty big, so I turned around and got the nearest security guard, who go some of his friends. So about 5 or 6 security guards take the guy out to the concourse, and I figure he's getting thrown out, as he should. However, 5 minutes later, I'm walking in the same place, and the guy is back in his seat. He stands up and starts screaming at me again. Now, one would think that he would be kicked out now, for threatening me. Instead, I was forced to sit in the office for the rest of the night, because they refused to kick the guy out. Later I found out that the guy and his friends actually got moved up to better seats. I guess if any of you ever go to a concert at Jones Beach, you should punch an usher in the face, you'll probably end up with backstage passes.

Of course, all of this happened on an otherwise glorious day, the birthday of one John Stamos.

-I was pretty mad after work on Friday, but tonight's concert made it all better. Now, every year KTU 103.5 puts on the worst concert of the year: Beatstock. It's the same show every year, bad club music, 45 acts in 4 hours who don't actually sing, and the crowd is full of kids with fake tans who look like Gotti children. This year was mostly the same, except for one thing. Last week, I went on the KTU website, and it was announced that they had just added M.C. HAMMER to the show. So I get there, and Hammer is supposed to come on at 9:10. It gets to be around 8:50, and I hear that he is not there yet. At about 9:15, I see a limo pull up in the parking lot where the tour buses park, and an entourage of around 20 people got out. I knew it had to be him. However, they skipped over Hammer on the schedule, and the guy that was supposed to close the show went on. My brother came over and said that Hammer wasn't showing. Rosen and I were crushed.

Then those guys got off the stage, and random KTU D.J.'s came out and started thanking everyone. However, the crowd in sections 14 and 16 started chanting

HAMMER

HAMMER

HAMMER

and the chant spread. And then some KTU guy asked us what time it was, and it was Hammer Time, and all was right with the world. He came out, unfortunately without his parachute pants. He sang some random stupid rap song, but then for his second song, he came out into the orchestra! I was standing less than a foot away from Hammer as he started walking through aisles and onto people's seats. Then as he was standing between Rosen and me, he started doing crazy dance moves in the aisle. It was insane. I poked Hammer in the back, and yelled out "I CAN TOUCH THIS!" Then Hammer went back on stage and sang U Can't Touch This. It was great. YOU ARE JEALOUS.

P.S., Robert DeNiro's son was in attendence, and he kept asking for favors, like for free drinks and a spot in the VIP section. All I had to say was "You talkin to me?"

-After work, we all went to the diner and hung out with George. Apparently he is going to have canolis there for me on Thursday night for my last night, and a babka for Rosen. This came after him offering Rosen and I some fancy kind of beer, and George telling us funny stories as always.

-Now I'm watching Backdraft starring Kurt Russell. It is a good movie, but I can't take it seriously, because the score for the movie was borrowed by the wonderful show IRON CHEF. Every time they play it in the movie, I think of the chairman biting into a pepper.

-I go to school tomorrow to move in, but then am coming back Monday because I have a doctor's appointment. It's kind of funny, in the spring I wanted nothing more than to leave there and not come back, now I can't wait to get out of here.

4:40 am
So it's 4:40 in the morning, and I haven't gone to sleep yet. We're leaving in a few minutes to go on a wonderful family vacation to Pennsylvania.

The last time I was there, Bryan Rosen and I devoured a 5 pound bucket of french fries that disgusted everyone else on the bus. Eating them left Rosen with some long-lasting health issues. I'm going to try and eat the bucket myself this time, but since my parents will be there, I doubt that I will even be allowed to attempt it. The funny thing is, I really don't even like french fries that much.

Saturday morning/afternoon I'll be back, although I'll probably have to go straight to work at Jones Beach. One of the Beach Boys is there, best case scenario is that John Stamos plays the drums for him. Worst case scenario is that I don't make much in tips, and the office still smells like gasoline. I'm betting on the worst case.

One thing I forgot to mention last night: at work there was a gasoline spill near our office, so it smelled really bad in there when I went on break, and everyone kind of got sick.

Also, tonight I found out that Tom Jones is coming to Washington D.C. in November to play two nights at a club. As long as it doesn't cost a ton of money, I'm going.

4:28 am
So I had an interesting night

Tonight at Jones Beach Theater was Trey Anastasio, the guy who used to be in Phish. So pretty much it was a dirty stoner concert. When we got there, three guys were sitting in the parking lot drinking and smoking. They were amazed at the fact that Mike, murray, rosen, and I were all wearing the same shirt. After they found out that we worked there, they asked if we volunteered. They were disappointed when they found out that we got paid. They also claimed that they didn't use drugs.

So the show starts, and about an hour and a half in, Rosen(who was working on the orchestra floor tonight) tells me to go talk to this guy who was dancing in the aisle, because he wouldn't move for Rosen. Here is what happened:

Me: Sir, you can't stand here

(guy says nothing, keeps dancing)

Me: You can't dance here, you're in the way.

Guy: Oh you want to dance with me?

The guy then proceeded to attempt to grab my crotch. I swept my arm down and knocked his hand away. Then I went and got security. THEY LET HIM STAY THERE!

So Rosen and I went on break after that. I got some fried dough, which was faboulous as advertised. Rosen went on break maybe 10 minutes later, then I ate a bag of potato chips and walked around being useless for a while. I go back, and Rosen is talking to the guy who tried to grab me. So Rosen turns around laughing and walks over to a security guard and tells him that they guy cursed him out and wouldn't listen. The guard went over there, within 15 seconds, 4 more guards were there. The guy was ejected, not for attempting to molest me, but for cursing someone out. What an absurd place I work at.

-After work, Murray, Rosen, Mike, and I went for our usual meal at the Valbrook diner in Valley Stream. Now, we usually go there after every concert, and all the late night workers know us, from George the manager to Fidel the busboy. So, anyway, on the way there, we called Joesph Frank Vidulich, who said he would meet us at the diner. So Joe walks into the diner, along with Alli Greenberg, Nicole Wetherall, some girl i don't know, and a very drunk former Jones Beach employee named Katie Sacksinmier. Now, we usually have a quiet meal, but that was definately not happening. I felt kind of bad for the old people eating near us that had to deal with the noise, and Katie leaning over booths eating everyone's food and cursing a lot. And Rosen throwing food at her(he threw pancakes. Seriously, who throws pancakes?) Luckily the workers were not mad, in fact George was impressed that we knew girls, and I think he was trying to hit on them.

So we get out into the parking lot and get in our car, and Joe and the girls got in theirs. So we drive onto merrick road, and Bryan Rosen decides to moon them at a red light. I'm pretty sure that Katie responded by saying something like "i'll take some of that all night", but then again she was drunk, and katie(who i'm apparently going to hang out with this week, but tham may or may not happen because we all know how katie hates me one day and doesn't hate me the next.

-Last night I went to the Met game with the Vidulich family. On the way there, we spotted a guy rolling a joint in the passenger seat of a car, and later smoking it. Joe's brother took a picture of him.

The game was a good one. The Mets won by a lot, and Kerry Wood and Nomar both returned for the Cubs after long injuries.

After the game we went to Rosen's house where we were going to play cards after Rosen's camp tournament ended, but his tournament did not end until after 2 a.m. Of course Rosen won. Now, I don't think that any of the people I usually play with (including myself) are at all good, but Joe and I couldn't help but laugh watching. I made the analogy that Rosen playing with the people I saw over there was like the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer takes karate class with a bunch of 8 year olds.

-It's 5 a.m., and Kazaam is going on HBO family, sleep isn't happening.

So I didn't go to Pennsylvania. It was going to be too hot, and my brother got sick. I might go this weekend or next week, but I don't think that will happen.

However, I did see Joseph Frank Vidulich today. He's as crazy as ever.

So my plan for the week has changed. I am waking up in 5 hours and going to training camp, however, I am coming home that afternoon/night. Then next Wednesday I will being going to Hershey for a family vacation. The plans changed when I realized how bad of a driver Mike Ambrosio is.

-So Saturday night was the highlight of the Jones Beach year, the triumphant return on Brian, A.J., Howie, Nick, and Kevin, those loveable Backstreet Boys. Prior to the show, I was setting up chairs by the side of the stage, right next to the backstage entrance, when A.J. came out from backstage and asked us(me, my brother, Jared Mauskopf, Bryan Rosen, and Steve Murray) how we were doing. I thought Murray was going to faint. I wonder why he was talking to us, I'm guessing that it was part of his 12 step program to recovery.

The actual show was fantastic. The boys have not lost it at all. Perhaps it took rehab for 2 of the 5 for them to truly understand the meaning of being lonely. Now, they played everything, but the order of their set list was confusing. Everybody should have been their first song, instead it was their last(how you do not start a show that starts out "oh my god we're back again", I do not understand).

At the end of the night, I went over to the folding chairs by the side of the stage(which we have to fold up quickly after every show), only to discover a group of security guards and a metal barricade. I knew that this could only mean one thing, the Boys were not using the tunnel that runs underground from backstage to the parking lot area, instead they were going to run out through the crowd. Quickly I ran and got two other working fans(Jared Mauskopf being one of them) and waited at the front of the barricade. When the show ended they ran out and it was SO kewl, ThEy wErE so ClOsE to ME! I CaN'T BeLiEvE It! Even though a bunch of people jumped at me and rammed me into the barricade, hurting my back and knees in the process, It WaS SOOOOOOO AmAzInG!

(The past 3 paragraphs: Were they serious? Were they full of sarcasm and a parody of the 14 year old backstreet boys fans? A mix of both? Those of you who know me best know the answer)

The show Saturday also marked the first night of the Bryan "Ratboy" Rosen era at Jones Beach Theater. He was shockingly good at his job, he screwed around in the car, but once we got to work, he was so serious it was absurd. He sat everyone even though they were annoying teenagers who weren't tipping.

-Sunday night was Duran Duran. It was really bad. The girl who is always on the orchestra floor with mike and me took off to go see the Dave Matthews Band on Randall's Island, and she wasn't replaced, so I had to do more work than usual, which is never a good thing. The crowd was annoying, I kicked a bunch of people out of the luxury boxes, and Mike left my Gatorade in the car, so I was thirsty all night.

-So remember how I bought Anchorman the other day. I opened it to watch the special features, and realised that I had bought a FULLSCREEN DVD! Since I opened it, I can't even return it! I feel so dirty. Chad would be so disappointed in me, I hope he never finds out.

-So apparently I have a busy week ahead of me. On Wednesday morning, I am leaving at around 4 a.m. to drive to Lehigh University in Pennsylvania for Day 1 of the 2005 Philadelphia Eagles training camp. After watching a morning and afternoon practice, and getting the autographs of the entire defensive backfield(they have autograph sessions inbetween practice, Wednesday is DB's, maybe I'll get Donovan too if i'm lucky). After the afternoon practice ends, it will be off to Hershey, Pennsylvania. Wednesday night will consist of going on THE RIDE(because it's free), and hanging around the hotel. Thursday will be a day in the amusement park. Friday morning, drive back to New York. The Friday night I will be going to a Mets game with Joseph Frank Vidulich and his family(sans Carmella, I believe) They are playing the Cubs, but I will miss the Mark Prior Hotness(who is pitching Thursday in Philly, and I can't even wish for rain there because I will be in Hershey).

Then on Saturday, I have work. The former lead singer of Phish will be there, so I expect to have to deal with a lot of dirty, sandal-wearing, pot-smoking hippies. This means that I will not be a happy ClearChannel Employee that night.

-Saw Sky High tonight. Kurt Russell clearly had a lot of fun playing his part. Bruce Campbell was great as the gym teacher, and Rod Farva from Super Troopers was the bus driver. I kept yelling "Say car RamRod!"

-I went to Best Buy today, and bought Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and Anchorman(what a 2 for $20 sale). And yes, I saw Anchorman for the first time the other night on HBO, and it was fantastic.

-Apparently the Mets are trying to trade a bunch of crap for Manny(Ramirez, not Santos you silly person). It's not going to happen, but at least they are trying.

-I have work tomorrow(as does Bryan Rosen, oh god). The Backstreet Boys. Much fun will be had.

"I didn't really like him that much when he was doing TV but then I saw Varsity Blues and got such a respect for him as a person. He was so good. I cried in that movie."
-- AJ from the Backstreet Boys on James Van Der Beek

oh AJ, that may have been the movie of your life for you...

BUT I
DON'T WANT
YOUR LIFE.

Dear Patrick,

This is a letter I had hoped to be able to send you several months ago. I am certain it is one you had hoped to be able to read long before today, and I will never be able to express adequately my appreciation – along with that of the entire National Hockey League – for the patience you have shown through the most difficult period in our history.

While it may be said that the greatness of hockey, and the NHL, is best measured by the character and tenaciousness of its players, I would add that the greatness of our game is also reflected by the character and tenaciousness of you, our devoted fans. I thank you all for that passionate support and I apologize to all of you, on behalf of everyone involved, for testing that support as severely as we did.

The negotiation of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement was an extremely complex undertaking and it took a painfully long time to complete. I promise you it did not take one second longer than absolutely necessary; and while it required a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice by a lot of people – including you – the result is that a great game will be even better upon our return.

As we move forward now in partnership with our players, we move equally, to a new era of exceptional entertainment, in partnership with you. We will come back with new rules, with a new spirit of cooperation and with a renewed sense of excitement as the best athletes in the world display their skills for the best fans in the world and strive to win the best trophy in the world, the Stanley Cup.

Over the past year, there has been entirely too much talk about the business of hockey and entirely too little talk about the joys of hockey. At last, it’s time, once again, to have fun – the kind of fun only hockey can offer. I cannot wait to get back to the rink and I very much look forward to seeing you there.

Let’s get ready to drop the puck!

Sincerely,

Gary B. Bettman

so i updated my journal before and forgot to write about the two things that I had originally decided to write about.

-While playing cards last week, a couple of people were discussing the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and if it would still be funny if we watched it today. So last night, I watched it. Somehow, a man pretending to talk with his butt and asking some guy for binaca is still hilarious.

-They make this toothpaste now, it tastes like oranges. They had a scratch and sniff thing on the box at the CVS in DC, and it smelled terrible, but my dentist gave my mom a free sample thing, and I tried it and liked it. Of course, i'm the same person who wants to drink some of that orange breeze cleaning stuff because it looks so good.

-The TBS original movie Atomic Twister is on right now. A tornado hit a nuclear power plant, and who is the only person that can save the day? why Zack Morris of course.

-A commercial for the movie the Dukes of Hazzard was just on. They were going through the characters in the movie, and said "Uncle Jesse". I immediately turned to watch, thinking that John Stamos would be on the screen, racing the General Lee on a motorcycle or something. Alas, I was wrong, and disappointed.

-Worked last Friday night. It was a show where the people in attendance were all my age, so clearly I had a miserable night. However, the show also marked Jared Mauskopf's first night working there. He was impressed by how little we are actually required to do, and seemed to enjoy being able to yell at stupid people.

At the concert, these three girls asked me for directions to where their friends are sitting. I send them there. They go back to their own seats(in the second row from the stage) and a minute later, one of them leaves, heading toward where their friends belong. A minute later, she comes back with 2 guys, and all 3 of them have tickets. I let them in, but follow them to their seats, where they all go into the same row. I then politely asked them for their tickets. Only 3 people had them. The 2 guys left. Half an hour later, I see one of the girls leave, heading toward the guys' seats. I follow her. I see her give 2 tickets to the guys, and then they all try to go in different ways. However, I was waiting for them at their seats, and kicked the 2 guys out again. Half an hour later(seeing a pattern emerging here?), the same girl leaves, I follow her, making it obvious that I am doing so. She goes and talks to the 2 guys, I stand there and wait. 10 minutes later, the other two girls come to find out where she went. They then all realized that I was standing 10 feet away. They then gave me the finger. I waived at them. 30 minutes later, the guys leave, and the girls go to their real seats. At the end of the show, as everyone was leaving, the girls walked by and took a picture of me. They said that they wanted to remember the person that wouldn't go away.

-Apparently I have to see the 6th Harry Potter movie, because Alan Rickman will get to kill somebody.

-I woke up today, and the Mets were winning 12-0. This is the 3rd or 4th day game in a row where I have awoken to a large Mets lead or a victory. I may have to start sleeping until around 10 p.m. every day now.

On a related note, the Mets have a new reliever who was wearing sunglasses while pitching last night. That's right, he wears sunglasses outside at night, what a tool.

-Bruce Campbell is making a new movie, in which he plays himself. The plot is that a town is attacked by zombies, so the townspeople go to Bruce Campbell's house and ask him for help, since he kills zombies in the movies, but not in real life. It sounds like a fantastic idea, and I'm pretty sure that I can count on one hand the number of people that I know who will want to see this movie.

-Speaking of Bruce Campbell, the Kurt Russell blockbuster Sky High comes out in a little over a week. I wonder if there will be any midnight showings on Thursday night.

-Worked tonight. Queen Latifah walked right past me because she decided it would be a good idea to walk around the orchestra. I made no tip money, and dealt with some unhappy people because the show started 30 minutes late. However, I spent the last 2 hours handing out shopping bags full of gifts, and beach balls. Most of the times I handed out the beach ball(deflated, in a plastic bag), it would go something like this

Me: Here's a free gift from our sponsors.

Concertgoer: Huh?

Me: It's FREE.

Concertgoer: Oh, ok. What is it...OH ITS A BEACHBALL!!!!

They were so excited for their beachball, I hated them for it.

-I'm watching Hardball aka The Black News Bears starring Keanu Reeves. Keanu is a terrible terrible actor. This movie makes me sad. Poor poor G Baby.

-So I went to Best Buy today to buy College Football 2006. Now, I was going to buy this game anyway, but for buying it they gave me 2 free 20 oz sodas, $5 off Madden 06, and a free subscription to some $50 dollar fantasy football thing. What suckers, I was buying it anyway.

Anyway, Ron Mexico just enrolled at Virginia Tech. He jumped over his best friend's brother, Marcus Vick on the depth chart.

-I'M A BASEBALL COACH, IT'S WHAT I DO!

-My tv just crapped itself. It just went to an all-black screen, with no sound, and the cable box is showing number/letter combinations that appear to be counting down to 000. Right now it's at 109, so my tv should either go back on or blow up pretty soon.

-Worked Friday and Saturday night. On Friday it rained most of the night, but the concert was enjoyable. John Fogerty was really good, and I sat in the office for all of John Mellencamp. Saturday was Donna Summer, it was terrible. However, I got to go out to the front gate and give out gift bags from Green Acres mall to the first 100 people to leave. It was like a really long break.

-Speaking of Jones Beach, I talked to former co-worker Katie Saahchsinmeyer online tonight for the first time in forever. Strange.

-I went to see the Fantastic Four tonight. I wasn't expecting it to be at all good. I was right, it was pretty terrible. I never really read the comics, but it seems like they changed a lot of things. There were also random parts of the Human Torch doing extreme sports for no reason. The man can light himself on fire and fly around, we're supposed to be impressed that he can ride a motorcycle?

-College Football 2006 comes out on Tuesday. There is a new game feature where you create a prospect, and then go through the process of trying to win the Heisman Trophy. You get a fake dorm room, and there is a picture of your girlfriend in it. The better you do in games, the more attractive she becomes. I think my prospect will be named Ron Mexico, because we all know how he rolls.

-I would like to apologize to Joe Vidulich. I do appreciate when you make me pastina. grrrrrrrrrrrr.

-During the movie tonight, there were a lot of trailers. For some reason, the crowd reacted well to the trailer for Ice Age 2. However, they did not applaud during the trailer for Kurt Russell's latest movie 'Sky High'. I do not understand this.
